BIO
I love to think that it were the bees that chose me.
Since the day a swarm came to my window, I’ve never stopped following them, studying them, loving them. Ten years have passed since that day: now, I am a small beekeeper in the Tuscan countryside but, above all, I am an expert in the sensory analysis of honey: my real passion. Born and raised in the countryside of Verona, I spent my childhood surrounded by nature, in close contact with animals, plants and all the small wonderful things that a big garden offers. Among them, I came across a swarm of bees. When I finished high school, I left Verona to attend university in Firenze and I fell in love with that city so much that I never went back. Since 2010, I am a small beekeeper with a few hives, which I respectfully take care of.
In 2013, I attended my first course in honey sensory analysis, promoted by the CRA-API in Bologna; that allowed me to embark in this amazing journey that I keep nurturing day by day with love and passion. In 2016, I passed the final exam to become an official member of the Italian National Register of Experts in Honey Sensory Analysis. Since then, I have been taking part as a taster in the main national and regional honey competitions, I have travelled throughout Italy to attend refresher courses and I continue to taste many and many kinds of honey!
Moreover, I am a proud member of AMI, Ambasciatori dei Mieli, a cultural association that supports and disseminates high-quality beekeeping and beehive natural products. In particular, AMI aims at promoting a hidden heritage of Italy: the astonishing variety of high-quality raw honey.
I do my best to make known the wonderful world of the bee, an insect that is currently in danger and that we must quickly learn to respect. In Florence, I offer a number of different experiences based on bees and honey, which are suitable for adults and children. I offer honey tasting experiences on a daily basis, both in Italian and English, during which I introduce the characteristics of unique Italian single-flower honeys. With a smattering of the sensory analysis techniques, everyone can put their senses to a better use and discover how honey pairs wonderfully with cheese and a glass of wine. I organize visits to apiaries and laboratories located in the Tuscan countryside, where people can have a direct contact with bees and honey, with love and curiosity! I set up events specifically targeted to children, with funny games. I also offer online classes.
All these experiences may represent a unique occasion for you to discover the magic world of bees and honey and give me the chance to raise awareness about the nature and importance of nutrition, pollination, biodiversity, and the bee life.
I love to tell stories, important stories.
